HYPNOTHERAPY

Hypnosis is a magnificent tool that you can easily learn to assist yourself and others. Hypnosis can be used for virtually any purpose, but is most commonly employed for self-healing, behavior modification, and personal empowerment.

Despite all the mystery that has surrounded hypnosis in the past, hypnosis is being increasingly accepted and used throughout the world, and is benefiting individuals from all walks of life. Hospitals from China to New York—and all around the world, are putting hypnosis to use to facilitate healing of physical, mental, and spiritual ailments. Hypnosis is also being safely used in childbirth; to ensure pre-and post surgical comfort and healing and to combat and conquer many diseases.

At this time in the worldwide evolution of hypnosis in America, the public’s awareness of hypnosis for behavior modification and self-improvement is at an all time high. The medical community’s appreciation of the many, varied ways that hypnosis can complement their own treatments, grows with each passing day. Positive word-of-mouth reports from its users and affirming scientific studies continue to testify to the benefits and effectiveness of hypnotherapy.

Unlike the early pioneers of hypnotism, today’s hypnotists can actually prove that hypnosis exists. The Electroencephalograph can be used to demonstrate the existence and presence of the hypnotic state. Biofeedback monitors readily show the power of the mind/body connection and demonstrate how quickly a hypnotized person can create change in his body.

Scientific experiments using Positron Emission Tomography (PET) have looked at how the brain reacts to hypnotic suggestion. PET scans have now proved conclusively that the brains of hypnotized individuals actually do respond in line with the suggestions given by the hypnotist.

As hypnosis continues to gain popularity with the public, and the trust of the medical and psychological communities, more and more controlled research studies are being conducted. Since hypnosis has repeatedly proven to be effective, affordable, and virtually free of negative side-effects, some insurance companies in the United States cover the costs of various hypnotherapy treatments. Hopefully insurance companies worldwide will begin to see that hypnotherapy is not only cost-effective—but also successful in helping individuals to both prevent and heal medical and psychological problems.

Unlike Frierick )Franz) Anton Mesmer (1734-1815), and many other note worthy hypnosis pioneers, we can prove that hypnosis works on it’s own merit—not just as a result of a placebo-like reaction.

Even after Mesmer was discredited and declared a charlatan by many, his enthusiasts, including the Marquis de Puysegur (1781-1825), John Elleotson (1791-1868), James Esdaile (1808-1859), and James Braid (1795-1860), went on to use the hypnotic state for a variety of applications. Despite great opposition, interest in hypnotism continued to grow. The effects of hypnotism continued to be studied and tested.

Despite the early skepticism toward hypnosis, great strides have been made to prove its miraculous benefits and ease in practice. Since the medical community and the public alike are awakening to the extraordinary power inherent in hypnotism, today’s hypnosis professionals are positioned to make incredible and far-reaching advancements—especially in the medical hypnotism arena. Many individuals who can no longer be assisted through traditional medicine can be comforted, strengthened, and in some cases, healed through hypnosis.
